About the Hotel
The Western Isles Hotel is a 26 bedroom hotel beautifully situated in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. It's on a small hill overlooking the harbour which means the views are spectacular from the public rooms and many of the bedrooms.
The building is now undergoing a series of phases of renovation to bring it up to the outstanding standards of its former glory. We hope that during this period you'll forgive us a few shortcomings and allow us to make up for them with the warmest welcome, and finest dining, on Mull!
History
The hotel was designed and built specifically as a hotel in 1882. Being late Victorian means that many of the rooms are spacious with high ceilings. However, we don't enjoy the services of a lift, so if reaching the third floor is likely to present you with difficulties, please let us know when you book and we'll endeavour to accommodate you in one of our first floor rooms.
One of the big advantages of being built as a hotel is that every one of our 26 bedrooms is in the main building - the only annex at the Western Isles Hotel is for the staff.
Access
The front door is no longer revolving and is now a simpler affair with just 2 doors that pull as you enter. We have a ramp so if you have limited mobility, do let us know and we'll put it up for you. We have a toilet with disabled facilities on the ground floor, but at the moment none of our bedrooms have disabled access.
Parking
Parking is available immediately outside the hotel and we have a small car-park across the road from us. It can get busy so if you do have difficulty finding a space just pop into reception and we'll help you. The road running past the hotel isn't busy so this shouldn't be a problem.
Being at the top of a small hill does mean that it's a short steep climb to the hotel from the Main Street , but the views are worth it!
